PTG Logistics Ordering 70 SmartWay Certified Trailers

CINCINNATI, OH  (September 2011) - PTG Logistics, a leading national provider of logistics and dedicated contract carriage services, today announced it has ordered 70 SmartWay Certified 2012 Model Great Dane Composite Plate Trailers.  With the order, the company is investing in technology that improves fuel efficiency and reduces its carbon footprint.

"The need to replace some older trailers presented us with an opportunity to do the right thing for the environment, our customers, and our bottom line," stated company CEO, Roger Welling.  "This decision also supports our growth west into California where CARB has made it a requirement that 2011 and newer trailers use LRR tires and aerodynamic devices that generate at least 5% more efficiency."

PTG Logistics chose Transtex Composite's MFS Trailer Side Skirts based on independent tests conducted in 2008 in which three (3) configurations generated up to a 7.35% improvement in fuel efficiency.  Welling noted, "Based on this testing and what we know about actual driving conditions, we expect to achieve a 5% overall improvement on trailers operating 100,000 miles per year from which we can generate savings of 7.5 cents per mile on every mile we run."
